Blackberries abound, and they’re free. Just go find a spot and pick away, I love blackberries. I picked a bunch a few weeks back but didn’t have time to really make anything with them. Infused liquor is something I’ve wanted to try, and I’m happy with the success of these two. The Blackberry Lemon Vodka is my favorite though, lemon goes amazingly with blackberries and vodka. Yum. I still need to find some nice bottles to put these in, for now they’re stored in mason jars. The white stuff in the picture below is the sugar before its had a chance to dissolve.
To strain the liquor after its set for 2 weeks, run through a fine mesh sieve and place over a bowl. Pour the contents into the sieve slowly so as not to overflow. Dump the spent berries, place a coffee filter in the sieve and pour the liquor through the sieve again. The coffee filter will help to catch the little hairs from the berries and any other bits of berry small enough to otherwise go through the sieve.
Once the liquor has been strained, its set to enjoy.
